2000 And One

Constantly reinventing himself, Dylan Hermelijn aka 2000 And One has been on the forefront of electronic music since the early nineties. Clear musical vision and a do-it-yourself mentality have brought him where he is today: leading some of Amsterdam’s most renowned technolabels and representing a sound and a scene that have captured the hearts of so many around the world.

Heavily infected by the acid house bug in the late eighties, Dylan produced his first record “The Sound of Planet Earth” at age seventeen in 1989 on Lower Eastside Records under his monniker 2000 And One (the name for poject he got from his former pincode: Two, Zero, Zero, One). Not only was he among the first succesful Dutch technoproducers, he also was one of the first in this genre to perform live.

In 1993 he laid the foundations for 100 % Pure Records with schoolmate and partner in crime Sandy Hüner. It has been a kickstart for the carreers of renowned artists like Orlando Voorn, Steve Rachmad and of course for his own.

The plug was pulled from 100 % Pure in the late nineties, partly because Dylan was ready to pursue a different carreer. But the house bug isn’t easily exterminated, so after a sabbatical of some years he gave in to the ever lingering desire to create new music and putting Amsterdam on the map again. Inspired by new artists and fresh sounds, Dylan decided to start again where he took off, relaunching the label and expanding the scope even further.

His track “Adonai Elohim” got picked up by Sven Väth in 2005, marking the beginning of Dylan’s second coming. “Tropical Melons” (2006) was a massive festival hit heard around the world. Many new releases have followed since, as well as some promising new labels: Intacto (together with Shinedoe), Remote Area, Area Remote and Bang Bang (with Sandy Hüner). Apart from making a name for himself as one of the leading techno artists in Holland, Dylan has now created a platform for Amsterdam’s new school techno generation. Artists like Polder, Julien Chaptal, Boris Werner, Bart Skils and Anton Pieete are steadily conquering the world with a fresh fusion of techno and house.

Together with Dave Ellesmere he known as Microfunk, and released in 2006 on Remote Area single “The White Room / Pecan”. During his long career 2000 And One also remixed such artists as Christian Smith, D’Julz, Gregor Tresher, Illario Alicante, Marc Romboy, Modeselektor, Monika Kruse, Par Grindvik, Anton Pieete, Shinedoe, Laidback Luke, Onur Özer and many others.

To mark the occasion of his 20th year making music, Dylan Hermelijn has decided to release the first full-length album of his career under his long-running 2000 And One guise. The new album “Heritage” was available on 100% Pure from March 2009.

On 21st of November 2010, 2000 And One finally recorded his first Essential Mix, which you can find, download and listen here.
