Roska began making music as a UK Garage MC under the name Mentor in 1998, Mentor changed to Mentor Roska and Wayne Goodlitt (born 13th January 1983) aka Roska went from MCing to becoming a Producer/ DJ.
In just three years, Roska has gone from distributing his albums around the shops from his car boot to being the golden boy of London’s funky scene. A fistful of EPs on his own label Roska Kicks & Snares such as “Elevated Levels EP“, “The Climate Change EP” and “Feeline/Boxed“, plus a few remixes on Katy B, Boris Dlugosh, D-Malice, Four Tet, Kyla, Modeselektor, Rephrase, Ghosts On Tape and Zed Bias have established his mixture of house, dubstep and African percussion as a new paradigm that seems to be nothing less than unstoppable. With support from Marcus Nasty to Kode 9, Benji B and beyond, Roska has become one of the true success stories of the UK funky scene, unleashing a flurry of raw and percussive singles and managing to gain a wide base of international support in the process.
Roska also collaborated with vocalist Jamie George on tracks “Wonderful Day” and “Love 2 Nite” and with Untold on “Long Range” and “Myth”. He also have another side project called Uncle Bakongo, under which he releases more Afro-tribal influenced music.
First self-titled album from Roska was released by Rinse in April 5th, 2010 and contained such great tracks as “Energy” feat Nikki, “I Need Love” feat Anesha and crazy-weird “Squark“. On November 27th, 2010 Roska also featured on legendary Radio 1 show Essential Mix where he presented two hour mix of best UK funky hits.
