Knife Party

Knife Party is a side project of two members of Australian drumandbass band Pendulum: Rob Swire and Gareth McGrillen. They experiment with more modern, exploding dance music genres – moombahton, dubstep, electro, and house, but you still can hear some echoes of typical Pendulum sound.

In recent months you could hear their genre-crossing tracks in different radio shows and mixes (for example on Essential mix live from Space club in Ibiza). And finally on 12 December 2011 they released first EP “100 % No Modern Talking“. The name of the EP “100% No Modern Talking” is a reference to a waveform in Native Instruments’ wavetable-based software synthesizer, Massive, called Modern Talking. It features four tracks: “Internet Friends” (my favorite Facebook psycho story, “Dance Energy Selected”) “Destroy Them With Lazers,” “Tourniquet,” and “Fire Hive“. The EP originally had a track called “Back to the Z-List”, but was replaced by “Destroy Them With Lazers” as they no longer liked that song. It was released digitally through Pendulum’s record label, EarStorm, as a free download from their official website and Facebook, as well as being able to buy on iTunes and Beatport.

Before that Knife Party released some great remixes – on Swedish House Mafia‘s single “Save The World,” which was released on 10 June 2011, Nero‘s single “Crush On You,” which was released on 13 October 2011 and, finally, of “Unison” by Porter Robinson which was released on 19 October 2011 on his debut EP, “Spitfire“, released on OWSLA, Skrillex’s label.

In recent Knife Party mixes you can hear some new tracks “The Box“, “Suffer” (which reminded me the most of Pendulum oldschool sound), “Intro (Where’s the Bloody Knife Party?)” and some great collaboration with MistajamUntil They Kick Us Out” and Skrillex Zoology“.

Latest work of Knife Party is collaboration with mighty Swedish House MafiaAntidote“. And what is even better, this track has two different music videos – “Clean” version and great movie/video game like “Explicit” version.

Of course, as the project name suggests, you  can see Knife Party live in some great parties, especially here in UK – Ministry Of Sound in London on 21 January 2012, and The Junction in Cambridge on 04 February 2012. Latest Knife Party news you can receive through their Facebook and Twitter, music you can listen and even download for free on their SoundCloud.

Pendulum – The Island

The Island” is the third single from Australian band Pendulum to be released from their third studio album “Immersion“.

It was released on 19 September 2010. “The Island” is a song split into two parts; “Dawn” and “Dusk”, with “Dawn” receiving the majority of radio airplay. The single includes remixes by electronic dance DJ and producer Tiësto, and by drum and bass DJ and producer Lenzman. A Steve Angello, AN21 & Max Vangeli remix of the single was released on 24 November 2010. The music video was released to Pendulum’s official YouTube page on September 2nd.

The album “Immersion” was released was released May 21, 2010 in Australia and Ireland, and May 24 for the rest of the world and peaked at number 1 in the UK Official Top 40 charts in its first week of release. The first single from album “Immersion” – “Watercolour” has claimed the #4 spot in the UK Single Chart, making it their biggest hit to date. The second single from the album, “Witchcraft“, was released on 18 July and charted at #29 in the UK Singles chart, making it their third highest charted single in the UK.

On October 26, 2010, Rob Swire announced via Twitter that a new record is in the works which is set to be heavily punk influenced. The next album is expected to be a significant departure from usage of drum and bass tempo, for a faster tempo in the form of punk, and a slower tempo in the form of dubstep.

YouTube Energy 004

Martijn Ten Velden – I Wish U Could (Feat Luciana Caporaso)

Голландец Martijn Ten Velden известен своими совместными проектами с Mark Knight, David James (Audio Drive, так они назывались) и Lucien Foort. “I Wish U Could” это одна из немногих его сольных работ, и спела её Luciana Caporaso, та самая, которая исполнила “Yeah Yeah” для Bodyrox и “Bigger Than Big” для Supermal.
