Zombie Girl is a Canadian Electro-Industrial/Industrial rock project, composed of Renee Cooper and Sebastian R. Komor. Started in 2006, the band’s lyrics and themes center on black humor and B movie horror films.
As owner of the Xenomorph Productions Studio, Sebastian R. Komor has built quite an impressive reputation as a sound designer and songwriter of acts such as Icon Of Coil, Bruderschaft, Moonitor, Monofader and Muscle And Hate. He has also been involved in productions for Apotygma Berzerk, XP8, Spektralized, Dreamer Project and has remixed bands like Nine Inch Nails, Juno Reactor, Alphaville, VNV Nation, De/Vision, Mesh and many more.
Musically, Zombie Girl can be described as over the top pumping and grooving electronic dancefloor music led by tremendously sexy and captivating female vocals of Renee Cooper. With a touch of humour, ripping old horror movie themes and elements of rock’n’roll attitude, Zombie Girl is the ultimate sonic experience from the underworld.
On May 5th 2006 project Zombie Girl released first EP “Back From The Dead” on label Alfa Matrix containing such hits as “Creepy Crawler”, “We Are The Ones”, “Bleeder”, “I Want It” pluse remixes from KMFDM, Soman and Icon Of Coil (or Sebastian himself). The first album “Blood Brains & Rock’N’Roll” was released in April 2007 after some controversy that the pressing of the album was delayed due to three separate printing companies refusing to print artwork that contained copious amounts of blood, as well as a brain on a plate. The 2 CD version of this album contained 25 tracks, including collaborative work with Rob Zombie on track “House Of 1000 Corpses”.
The latest work from Zombie Girl is EP “Halloween” released on 1st of November 2009, also on Belgian label Alfa Matrix. EP contained songs “Halloween”, “The Ones Who Walk At Night’, “From Below”, “The Darkness” and some remixes on older tracks.
Songs from Zombie Girls are ideal for mashuping with horror films which Yogzatot team did for their Halloween performance. The video on “Halloween” (obvious choice for intro in such performance) was made using footage from Rob Zombie film “House Of 1000 Corpses”. And as basis for video on track “Creepy Crawler” was used footage from horror comedy “Slither”.
